Arab Kamara, a mechanic and neighbor to the complainant in Wilberforce, has been arrested and charged with larceny under Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916. He is accused of stealing a Benz ML vehicle and its parts, valued at NLe 6,450, which were entrusted to him for repairs.

According to prosecution witness Samuel Ndoye, Kamara had offered to repair the vehicle but allegedly vanished with both the vehicle and its parts. Ndoye stated that he had trusted Kamara due to their neighborly relationship, making the betrayal particularly significant.

Detective Police Constable (DPC) Michael Ansuman Conteh, badge number 14018, attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Freetown, testified in court. He confirmed recognizing Kamara in the dock.

DPC Conteh recalled that on March 15, 2025, he and DPC 1394 were assigned to investigate a larceny case involving a vehicle parked on Wilberforce Road. Upon arrival, they observed that several parts had been removed from the Benz ML. A statement was taken from the complainant, who reported the theft.

The detective further testified that on May 3, 2025, Kamara was interviewed, and a caution statement was recorded. The statement, written in English and explained in Krio, was acknowledged by Kamara as accurate, though he refused to sign it.

Kamara has been remanded in custody as the case continues before the court. The matter has been adjourned to September 4, 2025, for further proceedings.
