In a significant step toward promoting rural development and community engagement, the Chairman of the Bo District Council, Victor Kosseh Hindowa, has officially commissioned and handed over a newly constructed community centre to the residents of Mandu Town, located in Valunia Chiefdom, Bo District.

The commissioning and handing-over ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including the former Chairman of the Bo District Council, Joseph Munda Bindi, local authorities, residents of Mandu, and members of the press.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Hindowa emphasized the importance of the community centre and the need for continuity in governance. He revealed that the project was initiated during the tenure of his predecessor but remained incomplete. “As a leader who believes in continuity, I saw the urgent need to complete this project because it addresses one of the most pressing needs of the community,” he stated.

In his remarks, former Chairman Joseph Munda Bindi, who now serves as the Chairman of the National Council for Civic Education and Democracy, described the event as a “dream come true.” He explained that the people of Mandu Town had requested the development of a community centre during a campaign visit by President Julius Maada Bio in 2023. Following that request, he drafted and submitted a proposal to the central government, which was later approved. However, delays in the disbursement of funds meant the project could not be completed before the end of his term.

He praised Chairman Hindowa for prioritizing the completion of the project and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the current council administration whenever needed.

Chief Joseph Brima, the Town Chief of Mandu, also expressed deep appreciation to both the former and current chairmen. He acknowledged the important role each played in ensuring the facility was realized, adding that Mandu had been without such infrastructure for decades.

“I never believed the saying that ‘government is continuity’ until this project was completed under the leadership of Chairman Hindowa,” Chief Brima said emotionally. He called on residents to make good use of the centre, stressing that it fulfills a long-standing need in the community.

The new community centre is expected to serve as a hub for public meetings, civic education, youth development activities, and other community-driven initiatives in Mandu Town.
