Preparations are in full swing for the Sierra Leone U-17 female national team as they gear up for next month’s WAFU Women’s U-17 Regional Tournament in Monrovia, Liberia.
On August 18, 2025, thirty players were invited to camp for the initial training sessions. Following a rigorous one-week assessment, ten players were released, leaving a final squad of 20 highly talented young stars now undergoing intensive training.
The training sessions are held at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Academy playing field, Training from 9am to 11am, Mondays through Fridays. The selected players were drawn from several Premier League clubs across the country, including Ram Kay FC, reigning champions of the recently concluded league, as well as Mogbemo Queens, Koya Queens, Vem Buck, Kahunla Queens, Patricia Umu, Rising Queens, Mena Queens, FC Kallon female, and Lioness.
Head Coach Fatmata Turay, popularly known as Taribo, has expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress. She praised the commitment and determination of the players, noting that their energy, discipline, and passion are clear signs of a bright future for women’s football in Sierra Leone.
