Fatmata Kamara, a 50-year-old security guard, was on Friday, August 15, 2025, arraigned before Magistrate Adama Kandeh at Pademba Road Court No. 4 in Freetown. She faces two count charges Conspiracy to Commit a Crime Contrary to law, Larceny – Contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the police charge sheet, on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Old Railway Line, Brookfields, in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused conspired with unknown persons to commit larceny.
The second count alleges that, on the same date and location, she stole a KLX 125 motorbike, with registration number AYK 480, valued at 35,000 Leones. The bike is said to be the property of Luke Media Company.
When the charges were read and explained to her in court, Fatmata Kamara pleaded not guilty to both counts.
Prosecutor Sergeant 10261 Kargbo K. led the testimony of Prosecution Witness No. 4, Detective Police Constable 14403 Eden Jeni Katta, an investigator attached to the Youyi Building Police Post.
She testified that on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, while on duty, a report of larceny was brought to her attention for investigation. She visited the scene of the alleged theft, where the complainant presented CCTV footage. She arranged for the footage to be transferred to a memory card, which was later handed over to the exhibit clerk.
The memory card was presented in court and marked as “Exhibit X1-6.”
Detective Katta further stated that a voluntary statement was taken from the accused in the presence of Sergeant 13208 R. Gbonder. The statement was explained in Krio, recorded in English, and then read back to the accused in Krio. Kamara denied the allegations and signed the statement with her right-hand thumbprint. This statement was marked as “Exhibit A1-7.”
Katta also testified that during a separate caution and questioning session, Kamara admitted to the allegations. That statement, also translated and recorded under the same procedures, was signed and thumbprinted by Kamara and marked as “Exhibit B1-2.”
Prosecution Witness No. 5, Detective Police Constable 13217 Ballah Tijan Samura, attached to the New England Ville Police Station, testified that he is responsible for the receipt and safekeeping of exhibits.
He told the court that on July 23, 2025, while on duty, he received one old memory stick related to the case from Detective Katta. He registered it under Exhibit file number 17/2025, confirming that the memory stick has been in police custody since. The item was presented in court and marked as “Exhibit C.”
The accused was represented by C. M. B. Amara Esq.
Magistrate Kandeh adjourned the matter to August 22, 2025, for further proceedings. Bail for the accused was continued.
