Mohamed Lahai, a labourer, has been committed to the High Court by Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura of Pademba Road Court No. 8 on a charge of larceny in a dwelling house contrary to Section 13(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Tuesday, 3rd June 2025, at Kroo Bay in the Western Area of Freetown, Lahai unlawfully entered the dwelling house of Myteh Koroma and stole three aluminum cooking pots valued at one thousand five hundred Leones (Le 1,500), belonging to Myteh Koroma.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.
The prosecutor, Detective Police Constable Joseph Lamin Dumbuya (ID 14898), presented evidence from three witnesses, including the formal witness.
Magistrate Samura ruled that having reviewed the prosecution’s evidence, there is sufficient basis to commit the accused for trial at the High Court. He therefore committed the case and granted bail to the accused in the sum of ten thousand Leones (Le 10,000) with one surety of the same amount.
The surety must be ordinarily resident in the Western Area and must provide a valid identity card showing their address in Freetown. Bail is subject to approval by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
