In a unified effort to strengthen Bo District’s public health emergency response capabilities, the Bo District Health Management Team (DHMT) on Tuesday, 10th June 2025, hosted a high-level delegation from the National Public Health Agency (NPHA), led by Dr. Mustapha Jalloh.
The strategic visit, held at the DHMT headquarters, focused on reviewing and operationalizing the district’s Incident Management System (IMS)—a vital framework designed to coordinate a prompt and effective response to the ongoing Mpox outbreak.
The IMS approach enables public health teams to swiftly mobilize resources, streamline communication, and implement timely interventions during outbreaks and other health emergencies.
Dr. Jalloh delivered a comprehensive presentation on the operational standards of the IMS and its critical role in managing public health threats. He emphasized the need for preparedness, strong coordination, and continuous capacity-building at the district level to effectively tackle emerging health challenges like Mpox.
Following Dr. Jalloh’s presentation, representatives from the Bo DHMT provided an update on the current situation in the district, outlining the progress made, challenges faced, and ongoing strategies being implemented to curb the spread of the virus while protecting public health.
The session encouraged open dialogue between the visiting NPHA delegation and DHMT staff. This exchange resulted in shared insights and actionable recommendations to enhance the district’s preparedness and response capacity.
As the engagement concluded, both teams expressed renewed commitment to deepening collaboration with the shared objective of reducing Mpox transmission in Bo District and safeguarding community health.
The visit highlights the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening health systems at all levels, ensuring that districts like Bo are well-equipped to respond to current and future public health emergencies.
