John Sesay, a masoner, appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, facing a charge of housebreaking and larceny contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the charge, on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Saba Drive, Regent Village in the Western Area of Sierra Leone, Sesay unlawfully broke into the dwelling house of Abdul Rahman Jalloh with the intent to steal. He allegedly stole a total of \$7,500 USD (equivalent to 52,800,000 Leones) and €1,500 Euros (equivalent to 26,775,000 Leones), amounting to a combined total of 79,575,000 Leones belonging to Jalloh.

When the charge was read and explained to Sesay, no plea was entered during his first appearance.

Prosecutor Sergeant Theresa Ballay closed the prosecution’s case, and the file was withdrawn for judgment.

The defense counsel, R. Koroma, submitted a no-case submission on behalf of the accused, arguing that the prosecution had not presented sufficient evidence.

However, Magistrate Fornah ruled that the prosecution had provided enough evidence to justify committing the case to the High Court. Consequently, the matter was committed for trial at the High Court, where John Sesay will stand trial.
