Fraud Case Committed to High Court: Tamba Johnny Walker Faces Trial

On Tuesday, 10th June 2025, Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah committed Tamba Johnny Walker to the High Court for trial after he allegedly obtained over two hundred thousand Leone from complainant Alie Neama Conteh by falsely claiming to have four towns of land for sale in Regent.

Walker appeared before the court facing two charges: Conspiracy, contrary to law, Obtaining money by false pretense, contrary to Section 21(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

The indictment states that on 6th June 2023, at Regent in Freetown, Walker conspired with unknown persons to commit a crime. On the same day and location, he allegedly obtained 240,000 new Leones from Alie Neama Conteh by falsely pretending to own four towns of land for sale, knowing this to be untrue.

Before committing the case, Magistrate Jah noted that Prosecutor Sergeant Ibrahim Saspo Bangura (Sergeant No. 8975) presented two witnesses whose testimonies corroborated each other. He concluded that sufficient evidence was presented to warrant Walker’s trial at the High Court.

When asked if he wished to change his police statement, Walker declined and expressed his intention to testify and call witnesses in his defense. Walker was granted bail, subject to approval by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
