Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1 has remanded three individuals in custody on charges of stealing $7,000 from the apartment of Sierra Leonean football star Kei Kamara.
The accused, Abubakarr Turay, Fatmata Bangura, and their daughter, Kadiatu Turay, face charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and larceny, in violation of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the charge sheet, the alleged theft occurred on January 15, 2025, at Fadika Drive, Hill Station, Freetown. Prosecutors claim the three conspired to steal $7,000 (Le170,100) from Kai Kamara’s apartment.
In court, Abubakarr Turay pleaded not guilty to the charges, while Fatmata Bangura and Kadiatu Turay admitted to the offence.
During the hearing, prosecution witness Inspector Saidu Kamara, an exhibit clerk at Lumley Police Station, testified that on February 23, 2025, Detective Police Officer Kargbo F.B. handed over $700 and Le11,150 recovered in connection with the case. Inspector Kamara stated that he officially registered the recovered money under Serial No. 04-2025 as an exhibit. The recovered funds were presented in court as Exhibit A1-7 and Exhibit B.
Following the proceedings, Magistrate Kekura adjourned the case to March 6, 2025, while bail proceedings are ongoing.
