Lamrena Jalloh has been arraigned before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on two counts of housebreaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916, and receiving stolen goods, contrary to Section 33(1) of the same act.
According to court records, the alleged incident occurred on November 28, 2024, at 11 Thomas Compound, Aberdeen. The accused is said to have unlawfully entered the complainant’s residence and stolen various items, including a 32-inch plasma television, a Bluetooth player, a sky-blue bag, two black suits, and five million Guinean francs (equivalent to Le 10,000,000). The total value of the stolen property was estimated at Le 19,485,000.
Testifying in court, the complainant stated that he traced his missing bag to Crab Town, where he found it in possession of the accused’s younger brother. With the assistance of the community chairman, the minor was taken to Congo Town Police Station. Upon interrogation, the boy admitted that the bag belonged to his elder brother but claimed the stolen money was no longer inside.
Following further investigation, the accused was arrested and reportedly confessed to handing over the bag to his younger brother. He then led police officers to Aberdeen Banking, where another suspect was found with the stolen plasma television and bag. The items were subsequently recovered and taken to the police station as evidence.
During proceedings, the defense counsel requested a brief adjournment. Magistrate Kekura granted the request and adjourned the case to March 3, 2025, for further hearing.
