Police Witness Testifies in Robbery Matter

Fourth Police Witness (PW4) John James Bella has testified before Magistrate Mark Ngegba on the 17th May, 2021 at the Pademba Road Court in Freetown in a robbery matter involving Babatunde Decker.

According to the police charged sheets, the accused person is charged with count one conspiracy, count two robbery with aggravation, count three wounding with intent, count four wounding, and count five wounding contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.

Testifying in court, the witness said he recognized the accused person. He continues to say that he was on duty at the Adonkia Police Station when a matter was reported to him by the complainant (Abdulia Jalloh) and they brought the accused person with the assistance of a police officer. The witness said they reported the matter of robbery with aggravation and he entered the statement. Witness said him and Detective Police Officer 14189 Bangura A issued police medical request form for medical examination and treatment.

Witness said that he and Detective Police Officer 13221 G.M.Bundor visited the scene of crime at the said address at Goderich Freetown. Witness said the complainants identified the position where their items were before they were stolen. The room of the complainants was scattered and was left in a disorderly manner said the witness.

According to the Witness the police took a photograph of the scene which was later developed into pictures.

He said the medical report of the complainants was later returned to the police station. The Witness further said that he obtained statement from the complainants and witnesses and later transferred the matter to the Anti-Robbery division at the Lumley Police Station. A bail was granted to the accused person.

The Lawyer defending the accused person was absent while Sargent 11223 B.Bona prosecuting the accused for and on behalf of the state.

Bail was upheld for the accused person.The matter was adjourned to 24th May, 2021.
