During the holiday weekend, Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh made a significant visit to Kono, where he officially handed over an ultra-modern ambulance to the Koidu Government Hospital (KGH).
This initiative, allocated by the Ministry of Health, is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare services across the nation.
The event took place on a festive Saturday, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing health delivery systems, especially in underserved regions.
The new ambulance is expected to facilitate better emergency medical responses and improve patient transport, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes in the district.
In addition to the ambulance handover, Vice President Jalloh toured the construction site of the Maternal Center of Excellence, along with an Annex building funded by two prominent sons of Kono.
These developments signal a promising advancement in maternal health services, aiming to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in the region.
The Vice President expressed his gratitude and pride in the contributions made by local leaders toward improving healthcare infrastructure.
During his visit, the Vice President engaged with medical personnel who shared positive feedback about the improvements in healthcare delivery in Kono under the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio. The staff highlighted how new equipment, better training, and upgraded facilities have significantly enhanced the quality of care provided to patients.
This visit held particular significance for Dr. Jalloh, who reflected on his personal connection to KGH, noting that he was born in the same facility over five decades ago, assisted by the renowned nurse Mbawa. His emotional ties to the hospital underscore the importance of continuing investments in healthcare, as he recognizes firsthand the impact such facilities have on the community.
