The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to convene a crucial press conference on Thursday, January 9, 2025, to discuss the findings of the highly anticipated 2023 Auditor General’s Report. The event, scheduled to commence at 11:00 AM, will take place at the Commission’s Integrity House conference room on Tower Hill, Freetown.
The Auditor General’s Report, tabled in Parliament in December 2024, has once again brought to the fore critical issues surrounding public financial management, accountability, and transparency in Sierra Leone’s governance systems. As the nation’s primary institution tasked with combating corruption, the ACC will provide its expert analysis and responses to the report’s revelations, with a focus on upholding the principles of good governance.
In a media advisory issued on January 6, the ACC extended an invitation to all media houses, underscoring the importance of robust public engagement through the press. Media outlets are urged to send one representative each, with the exception of television stations, which may delegate two individuals, a reporter and a cameraman.
This press conference presents an opportunity for the ACC to reaffirm its unwavering commitment to addressing issues of corruption and mismanagement while reinforcing public trust in governance. The Commission’s efforts are expected to drive a national conversation on institutional accountability and set the tone for more effective oversight in the year ahead.
The ACC continues to champion its mandate of “Fighting Corruption: A National Concern,” ensuring that public resources are protected and utilized in the best interest of Sierra Leoneans.
