Umu Jalloh, on the 13th of November 2024, made her first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 on one count charge of Larceny in Dwelling House Contrary to section 13 (A) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offense on Tuesday, 1st 2024, at No 19 Carlton Carew Road off Wilkenson Road Freetown in the western area of the Republic of Sierra Leone with intent entered the dwelling house of Binta Barrie and stole therein five assorted sets “lappas” value three thousand five hundred Leones(NLe 3500), one (1) set cotton kappa value eight hundred Leone (NLe800) one (1) Long Yellow dress value two thousand five hundred Leones (NLe2500), one (1) “Woodie” “lappa” value three thousand Leones (NLe3000), One (1) set “lappa” value three thousand Leones (NLe3000), one (1) Samsung Galaxy A15 mobile “phobe” value seven thousand Leones (NLe7000), Assorted jewelry value thirty-six thousand eight hundred Leones (NLe36800), one (1) black gold color “slippas” value five hundred Leones (NLe500) and the sum of ten thousand Leones (NLe10,000) all to the total value of fifty-seven thousand one hundred Leones (NLe57,000) the property of Binta Barrie. When the charges were read and explained to the accused, she pleaded guilty.
The Led Prosecutor Inspector Kadie M Taylor sought for a short adjournment as her witness was absent.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura refused bail based on the seriousness of the offenses charged, sent her to a female correctional facility in Freetown, and adjourned the matter to November 19, 2024, for further proceedings.
