The event, held at the New Barracks Police Field, featured the destruction of unclaimed Tramadol, Kush, and Cannabis Sativa, signaling a strong stance against drug trafficking and misuse in the region.

The destruction of these illicit substances was a response to the calls of community members, who have long voiced concerns about the detrimental impact of drugs on public health and safety. The incineration event met the public’s expectations and demonstrated the Sierra Leone Police Force’s commitment to accountability in its operations.

A significant crowd gathered to witness the destruction of the drugs, showing support and appreciation for AIG Kanneh’s proactive approach to regional security. Brigadier GM Bangura, Commander of the 5 Brigade Gondama Military Barracks, also attended the event and commended the Sierra Leone Police Force for its transparent approach to law enforcement. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between police and military forces in ensuring a secure and drug-free society. Civil society representatives and local stakeholders echoed his sentiments, acknowledging the significance of a transparent and accountable police force in meeting the public’s expectations.

Under AIG Kanneh’s leadership, the Southern Region Police has emerged as a model of community-centered and effective policing. Key measures, including the fortified checkpoint operations led by Constable Ngobeh, underscore the police’s genuine commitment to protecting public welfare.

As the flames consumed the seized drugs and the smoke dispersed, the assembled community expressed profound appreciation for the police force’s dedication to combatting drug issues.
