BRAC Servant Discharged and Acquitted

Umu Sernnoh (accused person) appeared before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of Court No.1 on the 14th May, 2021 at the Pademba Road Court in Freetown. She was arraigned in court on one count of Larceny by servant contrary to section 17 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.  According to the police charge sheets, the accused person is charged with one count charge of larceny by servant.

It’s alleged that the Umu Sernnoh on the 28th January, 2021 at BRAC Micro Credit Office, Leicester road Freetown, in the mountain rural district in the Western Area being a cleaner or servant employed by BRAC Micro Finance stole ten rubber chairs each valued eighty five thousand Leones (Le85, 000/00), seven veronica buckets each valued seventy thousand Leones (Le70, 000/00), and other items. The total valued of the property stolen at BRAC is one million seven hundred and forty thousand Leone (Le1, 740, 000/00) belonging to BRAC Micro Credit Sierra Leone.

However, Magistrate Keikura has discharged and acquitted the accused person (Umu Sernnoh) with 20 million Leones and one surety. The Police prosecutor was Police Constable 15152 Turay H.B.
