The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) on Wednesday August 21, kicked off the National First Division Playoffs Competition in the Cities of Freetown and Makeni respectively. As usual, 10 teams from 5 regions will battle for three slots to the Sierra Leone Premier League which is the country’s Elite League.
The Western Area Division One Finalist Star Sport Academy started their playoffs campaign with a 2:0 win against the North-East Region Champions Golden Dragons at the Wusum Playing Field.
The match started in high spirits with the Dragon Boys of Magburaka creating the earlier chances but failed to capitalize on law 10.
From a scramble play in the 9th minute, Star Sport maestro Senesie Janneh got the lead.
The Western Region representative doubles their lead in the 84th minute of play when Abou Bacarr Tambesso stamped the club’s authority with all three points which makes the match to end 2:0 against Golden Dragons.
In another development Kamboi Eagles FC defeated Abacha City FC at the Approved School Playing field.
Both teams played their best but Eagles of Kenema grab their first in the National Division one play-Off opener in Freetown.
