FATAL ROAD ACCIDENT CLAIMS TWO LIVES IN KOIDU CITY

On Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, tragedy struck the streets of Koidu City as a fatal road accident claimed the lives of Alie Tarawally and his granddaughter Saran Tarawally. The incident, which occurred on the main Masingbi road, has left the community reeling with shock and sorrow.

Inspector Mohamed Bayoh, attached to the Traffic Department of the Tankoro Police Divisional Headquarters, provided details of the harrowing event. According to eyewitness accounts gathered during the investigation, Alie Tarawally and Saran Tarawally were traveling on the same HLX motorbike, bearing registration number AIA 362. They were en route from the 55-spot area towards Koakoyima when tragedy struck.

Reports indicate that their motorcycle was struck from behind by a vehicle carrying a heavy load of cement bricks. The vehicle, identified by its inscription “50 OM 10”, failed to stop after the collision. The driver, Sahr Saffa of Koamaru town in Nimikoro Chiefdom, Kono District, fled the scene of the crime but was later apprehended by his family members and handed over to the authorities.

Following the accident, the remains of Alie Tarawally and Saran Tarawally were subjected to a postmortem examination at the Koidu Government Hospital. Subsequently, their bodies were released to their grieving family members for burial rites.

Meanwhile, the police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. The community mourns the loss of two precious lives and awaits further developments in the ongoing inquiry.

As the investigation progresses, authorities urge anyone with relevant information regarding the accident to come forward and assist in ensuring justice for the victims and their families.
