One Regina Essien has yesterday made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 on three counts ranging from Office Breaking and Larceny contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916, Malicious damage contrary to section 51 of the Malicious damage Act of 1861 and Threatening to burn a house contrary to section 50 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.
According to the particulars of offence in count one it was alleged that the accused person on the 27th October, 2023 at Wilkinson Road in Freetown with intent to steal break and entered into the office of the Royal Air Morocco and stole therein physical sum of Thirty-one Thousand Nine Hundred Leones, Six hundred and twenty five United States dollars equivalent to Fifteen thousand three hundred and seventy five thousand leones, Hp computer laptop valued at six hundred united States dollars, six jerry cans of diesel valued one thousand two hundred leones, and two 23kg luggages valued four hundred and sixty united States dollars each, all to the total value of Eighty – Five Thousand Eight hundred and sixty seven leones property of Royal Air Maroc.
While in count two it was stated that the accused person maliciously damaged five doors, three cupboards, seven CCTV cameras plus DVR all to the total sum of Seventy six thousand two hundred and eleven leones properties of the said Air Maroc and in count three threatened to burn down the house at 16b Wilkinson Road in Freetown.
Shortly after the matter was mentioned with both defense and prosecution present, the prosecution witness Abdulrahim Saadana took the witness stand and testify.
In his testimony he identified himself as the Country Manager Air Maroc situated at
16B Wilkinson Road in Freetown.
He furthered that he came to know the accused person in this case through a CCTV Camera and recalled 27th October 2023.
“On the above date my colleague called and gave me an information and based on that i went to the office and found doors broken including my office and where the safe is kept broken with monies up to millions of Leones, hp computers, two bags from passengers missing” he stated.
He said haven saw the place and noticed missing items and monies he took snapshots and called the police who also came and took snap shots of the scene of crime and took report adding that it was during investigation that I checked the CCTV Camera together with the police I saw a lady in the footages opening the doors and identified her as the accused person.
At this stage because the prosecution was having problems in leading the witness, the associating Lawyer Jesse Gooding asked for a date for him to have the legal team to take over the prosecution which was granted.
But before the adjourned date defence counsel C.B Davies renewed his application for bail for and on behalf of his clients.
He application was not granted and the accused was remanded at the female Correctional Centre till 13th March, 2024.
