In her first official act since assuming office, Paramount Chief Amy Tattor Tibbie Kallon of Njama Kowa Chiefdom convened a momentous consultative meeting on March 2nd and 3rd, 2024. The gathering, aimed at fostering unity, reconciliation, and development, drew an overwhelming response from stakeholders across the Chiefdom. 

Chaired by Alhaji Mohamed T. Sankoh, the meeting commenced with expressions of gratitude towards the PC-elect for her proactive approach. Sankoh, representing the Chiefdom’s people, pledged unwavering support to Kallon’s administration. Highlighting her commitment to reconciliation, Kallon successfully negotiated the release of 18 individuals involved in recent disturbances, signaling a clear intent to prioritize unity and progress.

 Throughout the proceedings, each of the eight section chiefs provided comprehensive accounts of natural resources and economic activities within their respective domains. They also outlined plans for the development of their sections and the Chiefdom as a whole. Commending Kallon’s initiatives, they acknowledged her efforts in establishing a public examination center and securing stipends for non-governmental teachers.

Further contributions came from the Chief Health Officer, Teresa Allieu, who called for community involvement in maintaining hygiene standards at local health facilities. The Officer in Charge of the Njama Kowa Chiefdom police post emphasized the imperative of lawful conduct moving forward.

 Notably, the outgoing Regent Chief, Kallon, urged the community to embrace reconciliation, urging remorse and apologies from those involved in past disturbances.

 In her keynote address, Paramount Chief Kallon expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from her constituents and articulated her vision for the Chiefdom’s future. Promising advancements in agriculture, education, and healthcare, she emphasized accountability and cooperation among section chiefs. Kallon’s aspiration to elevate Njama Kowa to a kingdom underscored her ambitious agenda.

 Addressing the crucial issue of local taxation, Kallon stressed the necessity of revenue generation for development, emphasizing transparency in financial management. She called for proper accountability in all economic activities within the Chiefdom, from charcoal burning to mining.

 The meeting concluded with pledges of support from various quarters, including the Soweis of the Bondo Society, signifying a unified commitment to Paramount Chief Kallon’s leadership.

 Margaret Baimba delivered the vote of thanks, encapsulating the collective appreciation for the inclusive and forward-thinking approach of the new administration.
