A distinguished delegation from the European Union, along with representatives from the Youth Commission and the Opportunity Salone team of the International Labor Organization (ILO), have expressed their satisfaction with the ongoing feeder road maintenance spearheaded by Bo District Council.
Chairman Victor Korseh Hindowa, who had earlier pledged to make ROAD MAINTENANCE his flagship initiative upon assuming leadership of Bo District Council, welcomed the high-powered team to his office before leading them to inspect two project sites: Yamandu to Benduma (Baoma-Bagbwe chiefdoms) and Mamboima to Yankassa (Tikonko-Lugbu chiefdoms).
The visiting teams not only commended the quality of the road maintenance but also praised the labor-based approach, particularly highlighting the active involvement of women in the process.
Since the launch of the road rehabilitation project from Yamandu to Kpumbu, and further on to Benduma, the economic landscape has experienced a rejuvenation. This has notably benefited both bike riders and women engaged in businesses along the villages.
The Yamandu to Benduma feeder road spans 10.2 kilometers, connecting the central market town of Yamandu in Baoma, situated 31 kilometers from Central Bo along the Bo Kenema highway. Benduma, the chiefdom headquarters of Bagbwe, serves as an agro-business center for animal husbandry, cassava production, rice cultivation, and beans. The revitalization of this crucial infrastructure promises positive economic impacts for the entire region.
