Thirty-three years old Joseph Richard a business man made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on two count charges to wit Having in possession of papers used for Making Forge bank note of the Republic of Sierra Leone contrary to section 9 (a) (1) of the Forgery Act 1913 and being in possession of an instrument used for making forge bank note of the Republic of Sierra Leone to wit one white Dell 225 printing machine and one white paper cutter machine contrary to section 9 (b) of the Forgery Act 1913.
According to the particulars of offence on Thursday 21st December 2023 at Bong Town off Wilkinson Road the western area in Freetown was found in possession of quantity black papers meant to be resembled and passed as a bank note of the Republic of Sierra Leone without Lawful authority.
On count two, on the above date and place the accused person was found in possession of one white Dell 725 machine printer, and one white paper cutter intended to be used for making forged bank notes of the Republic of Sierra Leone without lawful authority.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused no plea was taken.
The prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai seeks for a short adjournment date for him to get proper conference with his witness.
Counsel representing the accused person C. Kamara renewed his previous Bail applications on behalf of the accused person.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura granted bail to the accused person in the sum of one hundred thousand Leones with two sureties in like sum sureties to be resident in the western area.
Sureties to produce valid identity card depicting his or her address in Freetown.
Bail to be approved by the Deputy assistant Registrar Matter adjourned to the 7th February 2024 for further hearing.
