Wounding With Intent:Business Man Granted Le 20m Bail

34 years old Paul Emeka Jah a business man made another appearance before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on three count charges to wit Wounding with intent contrary to section 18 of the offences against the persons Act 1861, Wounding contrary to Section 20 of the offences against the person Act 1861 and Assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the of offences against the person Act 1816.

According to the particulars of offence on 13th November 2023 at Lumley Crab Town Junction the western area in Freetown maliciously wounded and assaulted Bangalie Mansaray in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, no plea taken.  

Counsel representing the accused person S.A Conteh Esq applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person that he is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on his behalf; he made his application pursuant to section 79 2 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.  

Meanwhile, Magistrate Gogra granted the accused person bail in the sum of twenty million Leones with two sureties in like sum surety to be resident in the western area in Freetown sureties to produce valid national passport for identification one surety to be employed in a government institution with pin code bail to be approved by the Deputy assistant Registrar. The  matter was adjourned to the 21st December 2023 for further hearing, while Inspector Musu Edna Kpulun prosecuting the matter.
