The National Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate (NaMED) with support from World Bank through the Accountable Governance for Basic Service Delivery (AGBSD), has successfully trained Monitoring Committees at the Port Loko District Council hall. During the two days training, some Monitoring gadgets were also handed over to the Chief Administrators from the diverse councils.
Mr. Paul James Allen, the Deputy Director General of NaMED, in his address, emphasized the importance of the training especially to members of the committee to practise accountability, accuracy and timely information sharing about the Government and Donor funded projects in the various Districts.
According to Paul James Allen, he stated that, the training is simultaneously on-going across the Bombali and Kabala districts respectively, while trainings have been completed in Bo and Kenema he informed participants.
He reiterated about the launching of National Monitoring and Evaluation Management Information System NaMEMIS, which the Deputy Director General said most of the participants are aware of the one-stop -shop platform for every projects in the country.
The DDG stated that, the entire project is supported by World Bank through the AGBSD and that the project lifespans is five years. Allen said that, it’s not the first time they’ve been engaging participants as they have been having series of consultations with stakeholders which leads to the formation of the DMCs. He encouraged participants present to handle these gadgets accordingly for the good of the country.
Alimamy Sorie, the Paramount Chief (PC) from Kambia District, Mr Tejan Saccoh, Chairman Port Loko District Council and the Mayor of Port Loko City welcomed and thanked NaMED for the initiative and they addressed the issue of sustainability to crave the indulgence of trainees to grab every opportunity during the training.
They made personal appealed during the process to NaMED to replicate similar training opportunities to Council staff.
In her closing courtesy, the Deputy Chief Administrator Ms. Hawa Coomber, thanked all present and assured of their support to NaMED and the DMCs.
