`KUSH` dealers must be prosecuted`.Chief Kaikai made this statement while Engaging Youth in Anti-KUSH Campaign, in Freetown east Communities.
In his drive to wage war to combat the menace of KUSH in Sierra Leone, the newly appointed Executive Director of the National Drug’s Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Chief Andrew Jaiah Kaikai ESQ, has been embarking on massive outreach and sensitizations engaging youths in the eastern part of Freetown.
Sensitizing young people Mr. Kaikai said, his mission is to educate them about the dangers of KUSH and encourage them to join the fight against drug abuse, focuses on Kush and other illegal substances. The Chief Executive Officer on his sensitization and war campaign on KUSH visited several places like Bormeh; Kissy, cassel farm, Moriba community.
Speaking to the youths through interactive sessions, he emphasized on the importance of them staying away from KUSH and other illegal drugs. He urged them to resist from KUSH and other drugs, focusing on skills development.
He also extended his sensitization to the Bikes riders’ physical challenged abilities in the eastern part of Freetown.
He further registered President Bio`s Government commitment against KUSH reinforcing that everyone deserves to live a healthy life. He said, Youths are dying due to the rampant of Kush and has become great and urgent concern in the Country.
Jaiah Kaikai intimated that this has jeopardized the physical and mental wellbeing of the young people and also threatens the nation future leaders. He also stressed that KUSH drugs can have serious consequences for the health and physical wellbeing among young people. Prolonged use can lead to addiction impaired memory concentration issues and even long term cognitive damage. He remarked that a significant first course of action should be collective community advocacy, directed at protecting young people within these communities.
He explained that there is an ongoing sensitization drive that will be carry out by agency with collective efforts and support by the media in multiple regions, on the ills of drug substances, with collaboration with the security sector to limit the distribution of the substance.

He acknowledged the gravity of the situation, emphasizing that Kush addiction is a deeply concerning problem. The government, he noted, recognizes the need for immediate action to address the issue and protect the well-being of the nation’s youth. He urged the public to actively participate in efforts to tackle the problem. It is crucial to create a supportive environment that encourages young individuals struggling with addiction to seek help, while also implementing preventive measures to curb the spread of Kush use among the youth.
As Sierra Leone confronts the growing challenge of Kush addiction, he calls on Sierra Leoneans together to protect the well-being and future of the nation’s young generation. Immediate action, combined with education and community involvement, is essential to address this pressing concern and provide a path to recovery for those affected by Kush addiction.
