Mohamed Jalloh and Foday Bangura arrested on 5th May, 2023 by Detective Sergeant 10037 Sellu. S arraigned before Magistrate Shark Kekura of Ross Road Court No 1 in Freetown for allegedly conspiring with unknown persons to rob Abdulai Conteh cash of five thousand Leones (NLe5, 000).

The accused appeared before the court on four counts charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery with aggravation, wounding with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to law.

It was alleged that the accused, on Tuesday 2nd May, 2023 at Texaco Junction, Kissy in Freetown, being armed robbed knife and scissors robbed Abdulai Conteh a cash of NLe5, 000.

The police said the accused, on the same date and place conspired with unknown persons to commit a, felony to wit, robbery with aggravation.

The charge sheet furthered that both accused, on same date and place in Freetown, wounded and assaulted the complainant in a manner thereby causing him grievous bodily harm.

Led in evidence by Sergeant 9874 Turay Memunatu M formal witness Mohamed Z .Kabba  residing at Kissy in Freetown, a Detective Inspector attached to the Anti-Robbery Unit as supervisor one, at the Regional Ross Road Police Station,  Harbour Division in Freetown, said he knew the complainant including the accused in respect of the matter.

Mr Kabba said he could recall Tuesday 2nd May 2023.

He said on the day in question, he was on duty at the said police station at around 11pm when the complainant reported a matter against the accused.

Inspector Kabba Detective Sergeant 10037 Sellu S issued the complainant with a police medical request form for treatment at the Rokupa Government Hospital in Wellington Freetown.

He said the complainant returned the endorsed medical paper to the station, which was produced and tendered to form part of the court’s records and on same day, he obtained statements from the complainant and witnesses respectively. He told the court that both accused were arrested by Detective Sergeant 1037 Sellu S and brought into the station.

The witness on 3rd May 2023, a Detective Inspector Williams obtained a voluntary caution statement from the accused.

At this stage, the police prosecutor, Sergeant 9874 Turay M.M sought for adjournment for her to have proper conference with her witness which was granted.

Magistrate Kekura refused the accused bail and remanded them at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to 13th September, 2023.
