The Sports and Health Promoters Under 12 football competition reached its climax on July 8th , 2023, at the Central Field in Port Loko district.
The event was graced by the Youth Football Coordinator at the Sierra Leone Football Association Alimamy Kurash Conteh and the Team Manager of The National U-17 Musa Pokawa (Tm Salim ), who both took the opportunity to boost the youngsters.
Before the Under 12 Grand finale, TM Salim did the kickoff in an Under 14 Friendly match that ended 4-1 to Central Boys. Alimamy Kurash Conteh then did the kickoff before the grand finale between Central Lions and Sugar Sharg. The match played well as the full regulation time was not enough to separate the two stubborn teams as it ended 1-1 after two late goals from both sides.
The Goalkeeper for Sugar Shag stood outstanding after two meaningful saves in the spot kick for them to be crowned Champions of the campaign.
After the match, Alimamy Kurash Conteh inspired the boys as he encouraged them to be discipline and focus on their education as the people of Port Loko will one day be proud of them as they are hoping for them to play for Bai Bureh Warriors and the National team.
He stated that Port Loko is a town that’s full of talents as he will often pay visit to see more raw talents that are coming through the ranks.
“I am proud of the talent that I see in Port Loko, and I know that these young players have the potential to go far,” said Conteh. “I encourage them to continue to work hard and never give up on their dreams”, he said again.
Tm Salim rewarded the organizers with a token for organizing a successful competition.
The North West region appreciated the work of the grassroot coordinator since he was appointed, as they awarded him a certificate of appreciation.
Other certificates were also distributed to deserving players that played the competition.
