The Youth Football Coordinator at the Sierra Leone Football Alimamy Kurash Conteh, the Coordinator of Grassroots Football, and Alimu Koroma (System), the National U-15 Head Coach, on 16th June 2023 paid a courtesy visit to Lungi to grace the opening ceremony of the Kaffu Bullom Football Association Grassroots Competition.
The competition is an Under-13 tournament with a prize pool of 10 million old leones. The aim of the competition is to identify and nurture young talent.
The two coaches were invited to witness the opening ceremony and Kurash was given the honor of kicking off the match. LSF FC won the match 2-1, with Neto Kamara being named Man of the Match.
During halftime, Kurash addressed all 16 teams and encouraged them to take their football seriously.
He told them that football is a fast track to success and that they should also focus on their studies. He also said that he would be visiting Lungi regularly to scout for young talent.
The Chairman of the Kaffu Bullom Football Association, Musa Kamara, thanked Kurash and System for their visit and for their contributions to the development of grassroots football in Sierra Leone.
Certificates were presented to Kurash, System, and Neto Kamara in appreciation of their contributions.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Osman Magic, the newly elected District Chairman for Kaffu Bullom, and other dignitaries.
Overall, the visit was a success and it is clear that Kurash and System are committed to developing grassroots football in Sierra Leone.
The competition is a great opportunity for young players to showcase their talent and it is hoped that it will help to identify future stars.
