Kekeh Rider Allegedly Beats Police Officer

Santigie Fofanah a Kekeh rider on Tuesday 6th June 2023, appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court No.3 in Freetown for allegedly beating a Police Officer.

The accused Santigie Fofanah is charged on 2 counts of Assault on Police Contrary to Section 39 of the Police Act No. 7 of 1964 and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm Contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.

According to the charge sheet on count 1, the accused Santigie Fofanah on Monday 29 May 2023, at PZ, Freetown, assaulted Police Constable 17205 Samuel Ganda, whilst in due execution of his duty.

Count 2 states that the accused on the same date and place assaulted Police Constable 17205 in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

When the charge was read and explained to him no plea was taken, the accused person was legally unrepresented.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional centre in Freetown and the matter was adjourned to the 9th June 2023.

Sergeant Florence Wilson is Prosecuting the matter.
