The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) has informed stakeholders and the public through a public notice that severe rainfall occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, May 10, 2023, causing significant damage to the equipment and electrical installations at their Kissy Road offices.
Due to this unfortunate event, the SLRSA has temporarily suspended its operations until further notice.
During this period, the management wishes to inform the public that it is actively working to assess the extent of the damage and is diligently clearing a large amount of debris and contaminated mud water that entered the compound as a result of the heavy rain.
Furthermore, the SLRSA assures the public that necessary measures are being taken to restore power to the facility and resume operations as soon as possible.
However, on the same day a lifeless body of an unidentified man, estimated to be between the ages of 30 and 45, was discovered within the premises of the Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority compound.
The individual’s identity remains unknown at this time.
According to reports the incident occurred around 9 am, following a heavy rainfall that occurred in the morning hours.
Reports from various sources, including SLRSA officials, reveal that the origin of the deceased individual is unclear.
According to eyewitnesses who discovered the body of the unidentified man in close proximity to a drainage system running through the compound along Kissy Road, Osman Diallo an eye witness said it’s either the body of the man drifted there from an unknown location or deliberately deposited within the drainage itself.
In response to this distressing situation, the Ross Road police station has been notified, and the body has been transported to the mortuary for further examination.
The primary objectives are to determine the cause of death and ultimately establish the man’s identity.
