Honourable Dickson Momoh Rogers and six others have received provisional nomination certificates to contest as Members of Parliament, for the Sierra Leone People’s Party, in Pujehun District on 24th June.
The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) District Returning Officer in Pujehun District and team processed their nomination forms at their office in Pujehun town on Tuesday 9th May 2023.
Ambassador Eddie Massalay, Chairman SLPP Pujehun District, whilst presenting the successful nominees to officials of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone informed the gathering that the day was long awaited for the party, adding that they are set to achieve their party’s goal for a no runoff re-election victory for President Julius Maada Bio come June 24, 2023, multitier elections.
It could be noted that seven candidates were presented to the ECSL, on the ‘Grade A’ list and the nominees were Dickson Momoh Rogers, Mohamed Sidie Tunis, Hawa Akgpagie Kallon, Hon Alex Mattia Rogers, Abu Kemokai, Mariama Zombo, and Shiaka Musa Sama.
The ‘Grade B’ list of candidates was also presented to the commission for vetting.
Madam Fatmata L.B. Jalloh the Pujehun District Elections Manager, said after the nomination exercise they have gone through the documents presented by the nominees and have provisionally approved the nominees as parliamentary candidates for the Sierra Leone Peoples Party in the forthcoming multitier elections on 24th June this year.
Speaking to party stalwarts and supporters immediately after his nomination process, Dickson Momoh Rogers (fondly called People’s Honorable) a third-term Member of Parliament, expressed satisfaction in the entire process and used the opportunity to call on the people of Pujehun to overwhelmingly vote for Julius Maada Bio as President in the forthcoming general elections.
” I call on you our people of Pujehun to give an overwhelming victory to President Julius Maada Bio on the first ballot come June 24; as well as render no-seat to the APC in the district and the southern region by extension. My Pujehun people, let us give our “Talk and Do” President a second term in office because of his commitments to Education, Agriculture, Infrastructure and more,” Honourable Dickson Momoh Rogers reiterated.
It could be recalled that the Sierra Leone Peoples Party on the 26th and 27th of April 2023 successfully conducted a consensus building and election process at Zimmi Town in the Makpele Chiefdom Pujehun District under the leadership of Professor Lawrence Kamara which led to the selection of the seven candidates to contest as members of parliament for Pujehun District.
Earlier, the nomination ceremony started with a procession through the principal streets of Pujehun town to the Electoral Commission’s Office with thousands of party supporters and sympathizers drowned from all chiefdoms within the district chanting in Krio ‘’No Runoff for Maada Bio June 24, 2023.’’
