Twenty years old Alpha Koroma a carpenter and Twenty two years old Joseph Haffner a stone miner made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.3 in Freetown on two count charges to wit Conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law and Burglary and Larceny contrary to section 25 (1) and 13 (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on the 17th March 2023 at Gloucester village the mountain rural district the western area in Freetown conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a crime.
On count two at the same place and date both accused persons with intent to steal between 9pm to 6am break and entered into the dwelling house of Ibrahim Conteh and stole therein two iPhone S mobile phones one A32 Itel mobile phone, one black rope hand bag, one sonny thirty two inches plasma television one DVD player all to the total value of fifteen thousand six hundred and fifty Leones (15,650) property of Ibrahim Conteh.
Deputy Superintendent of police Sorie Conteh lead Prosecution witness number two DPC 20014 Samuel Bangura attached to the mountain division Imatt Freetown said he recognized both accused persons in the dock and he knows the complainant in this matter.
He recalled on the 17th March 2023 he was on duty at the said station when the alleged case was assigned to him for investigation he left the station on the said date to visit the scene of crime and he returned together with the complainant to the said station where in obtained statement from the complainant and his witnesses.
On the 21st March 2023 he conducted a search warrant at the premises of the first accused person he discovered one thirty two inches plasma television and one DVD player which the complainant identified to be his property on the 19th March he obtained statements from one Aminata Coker on the 21st March 2023 both accused persons were caution and question differently in Krio which was recorded down in English language the said statement was read over and explained to the accused persons in krio both accused persons admitted it to be true and correct by afflicting their right hand thumbprint separately witness by DPC 20091 Kamara T since then the statement has been in the custody of the police voluntary caution statement of all accused persons was produce and tendered in court to form part of the court records on the 22nd March 2023 both accused persons were charged with the offense of Conspiracy to commit a crime and Burglary and Larceny the accused persons were caution and question in krio language and it was recorded down in English language witness by Dpc 20091 Kamara T since then the charge statement was in the custody of the police charge statement of both accused persons was produce and tendered in court to form part of the court records.
The witness said the exhibit that was discovered was handed over to the complainant.
The accused persons was no represented by legal representative
Meanwhile Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused persons to the male correctional center in Freetown matter adjourned to the 18th May 2023 for further hearing.
