The Championship is the 4th African U18 and 15th African U20 Championships and the second time the meets have been merged. The championship aims to promote athletics in Africa. They provide a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents and compete against some of the best in Africa, with a packed schedule of events, including the U18 and U20 categories.

The U18/U20 African Athletic Championship is not just about winning; it’s about being a part of something bigger than yourself. It’s about being a part of a community of athletes who share your passion and your dreams to all the athletes.

The Confederation of Africa Continental Athletic was founded in 1973 and is the continental governing body for athletics in Africa.

The first African Athletics Championships was held in 1979 in Dakar, Senegal. African athletes have excelled in middle and long-distance running, with many world records being held by African runners.

The CAA organizes several major athletics events, including the African Championships in Athletics, the African Cross Country Championships, and the African Youth Games. The CAA has established an Athletics Hall of Fame to honor the achievements of African athletes and officials who have made significant contributions to the sport.

The Sierra Leone Athletics Federation faces series of challenges to get these two athletes to represent the Country although the Government failed to help them with the trip to Zambia only two athletes.
