Magistrate Alpha Rashid Jalloh has ordered Ibrahim Jabba a businessman who duped a trader Hannah Vandy the sum of two million old leones while pretending to have diamonds for sale.

According to the complainant Hannah Vandy who testified in court that the incident took place at PZ and government Wharf in Freetown on the 15th March 2023 she said on the aforementioned date while trying to board a tricycle Kekeh.

 The accused person and one man approached her and showed her a Piece of paper containing some writing she said he claimed that they have a diamond and persuaded her to go with them to the government Wharf she said they entered a building and the accused told her to hand over her handbag which contained her sales for the day to him and Wait for him at Rokel commercial bank at PZ.

 She said she went there and waited she couldn’t see the accused person she further said that she went back to Government Wharf she couldn’t see the accused person.

 The witness told the court that it was her father who searched around and caught the accused person at a notorious spot at Government Wharf.

The accused person is standing trial on a count charge to wit Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.

The trail continues and the matter adjourned to the 21st of April 2023.
