On Saturday 25th March 2023 a cross section of NGC councilors including some of its northwestern leadership, a former APC member of parliament Alieu Badara and about a dozen councilors have proclaimed their unflinching support to the SLPP and president Bio`s government in Kambia district.
The leadership of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, RTD Brigadier Dr Julius Maada Bio, vice president Juldeh Jalloh, and First Lady Dr Fatima Jabbie Maada Bio, arrived in Kambia for the SLPP NEC Meeting.
The converters from the NGC and APC said they were impressed with the development strides of the ruling SLPP especially the gains made in the human capital development and the restoration of electricity by installing transformers in the district after 30years.
Prominent among the defectors is the former APC Member of Parliament Alieu Badara.
“Under the regime of the SLPP a transformer was sent to Kambia district but it was relocated to Makeni for no just reason”, Former APC councilor Sahid Kamara noted.
“My new party, the SLPP, is the most democratic and progressive Political party in West Africa. In order to ensure a landslide victory for His Excellency the People’s President, Dr Julius Maada Bio, come 2023, we should go out in numbers on June 24, 2023, and vote massively for President Bio”, councilor Kamara stated again.
Former APC Councillor Momoh Kamara said they joined the SLPP because they don’t want to be left behind because real politicking is not about propaganda but the deliverance of tangibles.
Another defector Kadiatu Kamara revealed that she became averse to the APC due to their divisive politics and the use of violence and motherly invectives to intimidate and subjugate that they disagree with.
Another NGC councilor Isata Sesay said she is impressed with the water distribution network, the road network aimed at linking chiefdoms in the district and the linking up of the district with Guinea through massive road construction.
“I am also impressed with the massive distribution of free sanitary pads for female school children throughout the country”, councilor Isata Sesay disclosed.
Another councilor Saidu Bangura said the APC tried to kill the SLPP in Kambia but it has clearly shown that Kambia district is the birth place of SLPP.
Another councilor said they have over the years provided Leadership and unprecedented development for the party and the country as a whole.
In his statement, president Bio welcomed both the APC and SLPP defectors noting that they are all brothers and sisters and they in the SLPP are not jealous of them because they are ready to share the SLPP with them.
President Bio urged the executive members of the party to treat the defectors as people that have joined the SLPP for a very longtime.
“The only thing I can assure you is to expect more development to pour in Kambia in the next five years” he noted.
The programme climaxed with the dishing out of party membership cards to the defected politicians.
