The visit by UK Foreign Secretary, James Cleverly was a historic one. In as much as it was an official visit yet it was also a home – coming one.
His mother, a professional nurse has her root in Sierra Leone, Bo. He came down to Bo on the 8 th of March this year which was unusual for most foreign dignitaries who visit Sierra Leone.
Apart from the government hospital that he visited he chooses one school, Islamic Call Society Secondary School at Durba Ground in Bo city.
Whatever his reason for choosing that particular school among all other schools in Bo will be revealed in the near future. ICSS as it is shortly called is a secondary making marled progress.
Janet Fai and Joseph Sannoh are the principals of JSS and SSS respectively.
A school that has made progress in BECE and WASSCE in recent years. And is boasting of highly trained and qualified staff.
James Cleverly on his visit interacted with pupils who opened up to him about gender – based violence and how it affected them. He asked the kids about their dreams in life. James Cleverly watched a short skit by the pupils of the school. He promised to take the constraints of the school to international donor organisations for needed help. Principal Sannoh and Fai were clearly delighted for an international personality choosing their school among the top schools in the country and Bo in particular.
The spotlight is clearly now on ICSS at Durbar ground in Bo.
