Ahead of Christmas…SLRSA Southern Region Assures Safety for Passengers

The Media One SLRSA Southern Region, Michael Feika has highlighted plans for  this Christmas period to ensure riders and drivers within the region make the roads safe. Speaking to this medium, Michael Feika said that key among the measures put it place are “robust checking, strategic deployment, snap checking and manning of traffic – prone areas.

“Christmas period is the time when there is a lot of movement of vehicles and motorcycles. And it is also the time when citizens get in jolly mood and tend to let their guards down. They tend to indulge a lot in alcohol drinking. It is a very busy time for road safety corps across the country and in the southern region in particular. 

He added that cooperation with traffic police is also key in ensuring the roads are safe. And Michael Feika went further to emphasize that when it comes to applying the rules, they is not going to be compromise.” So fines are going to be levied on those who break the law without fear or favour. Now that the roads are being done in the south, especially in the Bo district, Michael Feika revealed that he has advised the Sierra Leone Roads Authority to put speed bumps in areas where riders and drivers show tendency to speed.

 He sent a strong worded warning to motorcycle owners to make sure they are licensed   before putting them on the road. He also advised those without roadworthy vehicles to take them off the streets. He also advised vehicles playing the high ways to observe speed limits of not more than 80 km/ h while those within the township should limit themselves to between 20 km/ h  to 30 km/ h.
