Bob Charlie a surveyor on Wednesday 30th November 2022, appeared before Magistrate Hadiru Daboh of Court No 3 Ross Road, Freetown, for duping a staff of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) by the name of Unisa Turay for land.
The accused Bob Charlie is charged with a count of obtaining money by false pretenses Contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the charge sheet the accused Bob Charlie on diverse dates between the 1st April and 31st December 2020, at Wellington, Freetown, obtained the sum of thirteen million Leones from Unisa Turay by falsely pretending that he have a two town lots for sale which is known to be false.
When the matter was mentioned both parties were absent, but the complainant Unisa Turay told the Prosecutor on phone that they have settled the matter, but the Prosecution ASP Jeneba Bangura told him to come and said it in Court.
Magistrate Daboh adjourned the matter to the 9th December 2022. In another development, according to the charge sheet Hassan Kanu on Friday 11th November 2022, at Approved school market, Wellington, Freetown, with intent to defraud obtained the sum of seven hundred Leones by falsely pretending that he have a single room to let which is known to be false.
The charge was read and explained to the accused person and pleaded not guilty and was unrepresented.
Main while, Magistrate Daboh refused bail and adjourned the matter to the 5th December 2022 for further hearing.
