For Alleged Wounding: Wilder Committed To High Court

19yrs old Juannah Karankay,  a wilder made another appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on three court charges of Wounding with intent contrary to section 18 of the offences against the person Act 1861, Wounding contrary to the section 20 of the offences against the person Act 1861,  and Assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the offences against the person Act 1861.

According to the particulars of offence,  on Sunday 4th September 2022 at Hill station in  the western area in Freetown, the accused  maliciously wounded and assaulted Fatu Sesay in a manner thereby occasioning  her actual bodily harm  The charges were read and explained to the accused person on his first appearance and he pleaded not guilty.  The Counsel representing the accused person is S.F Fomba.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Gogra has looked at the evidence and  he is of the view that the prosecution has adduced sufficient evidence in order to warrant a committal of the accused person to the High Court for trial. The  accused person was granted  bail in the sum of twenty million Leones with two sureties and  both sureties are  to produce valid identity card depicting their addresses, and to be  resident in the western area and  both sureties  be employed before the  bail could  be approved by the Bench. Assistant Superintendent of police Abdul Sannoh is the one prosecuting  the matter.
