The people of Kono District in Eastern Part of Sierra Leone have described the newly launched mobile clinic or hospitals on wheels in the district by the Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation as “Heaven on Earth”
In her address, Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation Princess Dugba thanked all for attending the program in their numbers especially the paramount Chiefs, medical officials and the Kono District Sierra Leone People’s Party Executives for being so supportive. She noted that the official launch of the hospital on wheels buses in the district and the country as a whole, is in fulfillment of President Bio’s promise to the country in effecting what she called Universal Health Coverage for all and sundry.
The Deputy Minister urged all and sundry to make good use of the medical facilities in the mobile clinic or hospital on wheels. She described the said facilities as an effective free of cost health service delivering strategy meant for all and sundry irrespective of tribal, region and political belongings. Madam Dugba thanked President Bio under whose leadership such medical facilities are taken to the door steeps of everyone residing in the country. She also used the opportunity to inform medical practitioners present that the process to pin Code nurses by her ministry are underway. She disclosed that process started but was later stopped owing to the corrupt nature of it.
She strictly advised nurses not to pay money in order to be pin-coded as it is there right to have pin codes. The Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation intimated the audience that at least four containers of medical equipment are now available to be distributed in government health facilities across the country. She further disclosed plans by the ministry to equip the respective PHUS and government hospitals across the country including the provision of additional ambulances. According to her, the Mobile Clinic Buses launched would serve Kono district for at least four days.
Dr. Yeabu Kargbo, the Medical Superintendent in charge of the hospitals on wheels thanked the government of Sierra Leone through the people’s republic of China for the provision of the mobile clinic or hospitals on wheels. According to her, the medical facilities in the hospitals on wheels buses cannot be over emphasized as they are well equipped with lab technicians, scientists and nurses to perform the following diagnosis such as; Kidney, liver, underlying heart conditions and many more. Dr. Yeabu Kargbo underscored that team work has helped them to achieve more pro bono healthcare delivery across the country.
On his part, the chairman council of paramount chiefs Kono District P.C Emmanuel Tamba T. Foyoh, also underscored the importance of the mobile clinic launched and implored the Ministry of Health and Sanitation to do more by providing additional ambulances and medical equipment in government health facilities across the country.
Paramount chief Paul Ngaba Saquee is the newly elected paramount chief Member of Parliament Kono District who is to succeed the incumbent PCMP Kono District P.C Mbriwa.
He also thanked president Bio for the imitative of launching the hospitals on wheels in the District and the country as a whole. He said the aforementioned facility is in line with the priority of Kono District that is: Agriculture, Education and Health.
