East End Lions Football Club on 25th November 2022 played to a one-all draw against Mighty Blackpool Football Club in a Pre-season warm-up at the Brima Attougia Mini Stadium in the East end of Freetown.
The Pre-Season Friendly match is organized by Luawa Football Club for the (4) Premier League clubs ahead of the new season. The Clubs are East End Lions, Mighty Blackpool, Luangwa Football Club, and Lamboi Football Club.
Mighty Blackpool took the lead in the first half when Santigie Sesay scored the goal through a counterattack, it took just five minutes for East End Lions to get a penalty as their Midfielder Samuel Beko scored from the Penalty to level the scored line.
Raymond Hunter the assistant head coach of East End Lions said the match was a good contest for his side, as they played against a strong side like Mighty Blackpool. Noting that ahead of the match some players were not part of the squad due to injury and that affect them in the match, but hope that some of those players will be available before the Premier League Kick-Off in the Country.
He further that, on the goal-scoring, the team is currently struggling because they are going to work on that in the training ground as the strikers need to be up their game and be ready to deliver for the Club. He called on the Fans to rally behind the team and to give their support.
Alusine Bala Kargbo the head coach of Mighty Blackpool said, they are still preparing for the Premier League and as a head coach he is happy with the performance of the team even though they did not win against one of the turf opponents in the Country. H noted that the match gave the Technical team a clear picture of how they need to work on their final third which is putting the ball back of the net, those are the areas the technical staff has to work on before the start of the League.
He affirmed as a club they are ready this time around to compete for the Premier League because they have a strong squad to challenge for the title and called on the fans of Mighty Blackpool to throw their support behind the team as the players are determined to clinch the title.
Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai Esq the Chief Organizer of the Pre-Season said is to keep the players fit ahead of the new league season.
