State House sources have confirmed that the Joint Technical Committee started dialogue since yesterday at Nongowa. Details of what unfolded at the talks yesterday are yet sketchy; but Information Minister Mohamed Rahman Swaray did confirm that joint military patrol of Guinean and Sierra Leonean troops has been going on around the area.

The development is indicative of progress in hatched by President Bio’s diplomatic search for a durable resolution to the border dispute that has dragged over a decade.

In a March 1st Facebook post Yusuf Keketoma Sandi of the Office of the President broached the news about the Joint Technical Committee meeting that started yesterday.

The post elicited a range of comments supportive of the diplomatic trajectory in resolving the land dispute.

Isata Ngadie Boima said: “it is better to jaw, jaw than to war”; “thank God the peoples liberation is in sight,” commented Rahman Sannoh; “diplomacy shall always win under the SLPP whilst lies and thuggery are the rules under the APC,” Abraham Williams Tucker stated; “we never doubt HE for his leadership. We win,” Alikali Dauda Tarawally stated; “very well let’s settle this issue once and for all,” according to Sidi Barrie.

The snippets of comments give the impression that Sierra Leoneans are passionate about the closure of the Yenga issue.

Political pundits have observed that it is an under-statement to say that citizens are curious to know what the talks will yield in the coming days.

A-Z will continue to follow up on the issue to provide readers with detailed insights on the outcome.
