About twelve pupils who performed well in the 2022 National Primary School Examination (NPSE) in Mendwa Community in Bo have received school materials from the Youth Community Empowerment Development Association in Bo.
Speaking at the presentation of the items to the beneficiaries, the Chairman of the Youth Community Empowerment Development Association, Lansana Makaya said that their organization comprises young men and women who came together to complement the effort of President Bio’s Free and Quality Education program.
According to him, the package given to the ten best-performing pupils contains mathematical set, books, pens and rulers, which will help the parents as the school reopens.
The Financial Secretary of the Youth Community Empowerment Development Association in Bo, Ahmed Kamara said that the money taken to buy the school items were contributions made by the members of the organization who people with different skills contribute to nation building.
He said that he wants to see how we can contribute to the human capital development of the country, adding that “we consider education to be the bedrock of development in the country”.
Hannah Kassoh who is one of the community stakeholders at Mendewa said that “I am impressed with the donation of the school materials to not only the boys but also the girls. This is a step in the right direction and the school materials are coming at a time when school has reopened and will go a long way to complement the effort of the government and other organizations to strengthen the educational system in the country”.
Chief Amara Shiaka, another community stakeholder said that “your effort to promote education is worth emulating by other people and organizations and will echo it to people about your good work so that you will attract support from other people to continue with the good work.”
Josphine Blango, one of the parents at Mendewa said “I have been worried over how to get money to buy school material for my kid who passed the NPSE exam but materials given to my child, have now put my worries to rest, adding that “I hope the other people will copy the good work of Chairman Makaya’s organization.”
One of the beneficiaries who moved the vote thanked YOCEIDA for their support and assured them of using the materials for their intended purpose.
