SLFA Appointed New Premier League Board

The Sierra Leone Football Association Executive Committee has on 8th August 2022 appointed a new Premier League board to be in charge of the 2022/2023 Premier League season.

The New Premier League is expected to resume work effective immediately to ensure a smooth start to the upcoming league season. The Premier League is expected to start soonest and fans of various teams are expected to go to different venues to watch their teams.

The Executive Committee of the Sierra Leone Football Association maintains the last Premier League board chairman in the person of Alieu Vany Koroma Esq, who works tirelessly in the last Premier League to make it successful though he and his board face some challenges along the line in key areas that has to do with sponsorship in the running of the Premier League.

The new Premier League board comprises seven members including three members from three Premier League clubs members who will be a task to run a successful Premier League in the Country.

The Appointed members most of them have been around football in the Country with a wealth of experience in running football across the country. The last Premier League board face challenges in running the league’s key among them have been Finance, lack of sponsorship from cooperative institutions in terms of finance, and playing venues were the key challenges because towards the second rounds of the Premier League season the Siaka Stevens Stadium was closed for renovations and it is the only venue that host most of the matches for most of the teams in the Western Area. These issues of venue cause a huge setback to teams to move their matches to Provinces and started experiencing low gate taking and much expenditure from the board and clubs.

The new board has a huge task one attracting Sponsorship, lobbying for funds from the Government, and getting appreciation from fans to tuning up for matches at different venues across the country.
