This is not the right time for one to be a President of any nation, taking into cognizance the ripple effects the world is currently faced with.
But as a nation, we’re blessed to have a President like Julius Maada Bio, who’s standing with the people at these trying times.
After the First and Second World Wars, one would want to say the coronavirus placed the World at a complete standstill, shattering economies and killing thousands, if not millions of people globally.
Which indeed Uncle Sankara Media platform subscribed to, taking into account the number of lives that had been destroyed.
But the Russian and Ukraine Wars which started some nine months ago, its effects on the globe that cannot be over-emphasized.
Even though Russia and Ukraine are far from Europe, every part of the World has felt the pinch of their actions, of which poor Sierra Leone is not an exception.
Aside from the destruction that is happening in Ukraine involving the killing of both nationals among others, the economic effect of the war, has resulted in massive hardship around the Globe.
Sierra Leone isn’t blessed with oil, gas, or wheat-like these two conflicting countries, which have been the major producers of the aforementioned items.
And because of this war, the supply of fuel in particular around the globe has been limited. And my basic economics tells us that, when any commodity is scarce, it will lead to price increment.
Thus, the scarcity of fuel in the world market has led to major price increments in the World. And since fuel is a sensitive commodity, its price has affected other commodities, leading to severe hardship from one country to another.
Despite those difficulties, we’re fortunate to have a leader, who cares about his subjects.
At a moment when hosts of countries such as Sri Lanka are unable to afford fuel and drugs for its citizens, we must be thankful to President Bio and his Team to have for avoiding such path.
President Bio together with the Petroleum Regulatory Agency Boss, Brima Baluwa Koroma has managed the fuel crisis in the best way possible, with better outcomes compared to other nations.
We know things are a bit hard, which is not only in Sierra Leone but the fact of the matter as a country we are opportune to have every product in such a turbulent moment, it is a path on the back for the President and his able Administration.
The World isn’t into normalcy and as Sierra Leoneans is high time we appreciate the level of leadership President Bio has demonstrated about the global hike, which has rendered most countries useless.
