Ade Manneh a businessman made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on four court charges to wit causing grievous bodily harm contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.
According to the particulars of offence on Sunday 19th June 2022 at Glory drive off Regent Road Lumley the western area in Freetown with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm, maliciously wounded, and assaulted Sorie Kamara in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm and did use certain insulting words to provoke him to commit the breach of the peace
The charges were read and explained to the accused person and no plea was taken.
Counsel representing the accused person K. Williams applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person and that he is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction and has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to enter into recognisance on his behalf; he is not a flight risk nor will he interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses he will not jump bail and he made his application pursuant to section 79 2 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
The prosecutor informed the bench that her witness is present but he is on able to speak due to the alleged torture.
However, Magistrate Kekura sent the accused person to the male correctional centre in Freetown and adjourned the matter to 4th July 2022, while Inspector Kadie M Taylor Prosecuting the matter.
