The House of Parliament has on Tuesday the 28th of June 2022; spoke with a unified voice in approving Paramount Chief Dr. Margret Catharine Daboh of Valunia Chiefdom, Bo District as Member Board of Trustees for the Students’ Loan Scheme, and other six presidential nominees.
The other six proved presidential nominees are; Madam Nyaibor Agartha Ngombu; Member Board of Trustees, Students’ Loan Scheme, Mr.Tommy Bull: Member, Board of Trustees, National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Mr. Edward Yarrimeh Kamara: Member, Board of Trustees, National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Mr. Sahr Momoh Duwai; Member, Local Government Finance Committee and Mr. Ahmed Chernoh Wurie; Member, Board of Trustees-Students’ Loan Scheme.
Presenting the Committee’s Report to the Speaker and other Members of Parliament, the Leader of Government Business who also doubles as the Chairman of the Committee on Appointment and Public Service Hon. Mathew Nyuma, revealed that PC Margaret Catherine Daboh is a seasoned educationist and Human rights advocate. He disclosed that PC Catherine Babor holds a Doctorate Degree in Education from the University of Sierra Leone, a Masters’ degree in Curriculum development from the University of Sussex in the UK and has also worked extensively as Lecturer at the curriculum and policy Department at the Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone from 2012 to 2017.
Hon. Mathew Nyuma added that From 2000 to 2005, PC Catherine Baboh creditably served as Commissioner, National Commission for Democracy and Human Rights for the Southern Region, where she contributed immensely to the development of strategic policy papers such as VISION 2025; the Sierra Leone Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP1) and the guidelines for Human Resources management for the Local Councils.
The Leader of Government Business continued that PC Catherine Dabor is one of the few traditional women leaders serving the country in varying governance positions besides her principal administrative role at the Valunia Chiefdom, Bo District.
During her interview, Hon. Mathew Nyuman also furthered that PC Catherine Dabor assured Committee Members that she would put structures in place in ensuring sustainability of the Student’s Loan Scheme.
“Mr. Speaker, Honorable Members, the SECOND REPORT reflects the unanimous view of the Committee, I therefore move that the Second Report of the Fifth Session of the Committee on Appointments and the Public Service be adopted by the House and that the recommendations contained therein be approved”, he concluded.
All the seven presidential nominees were consensually approved by the generality of Members of Parliament taking into consideration their enviable expertise to serve in their respective positions.
