A private tutor named Charles Taylor appeared before Magistrate Alpha Rashid Jalloh presiding over Pademba road court No.4 in Freetown on the 20th June 2022 pleaded guilty to a lone charge of Larceny.
According to the particulars of offence on Friday 28th May 2022 at No31 prison Barracks the western area in Freetown Stole one Itel 517 mobile phone valued nine hundred thousand Leones(900,000) from Hassanatu Samura.
The charges was read and explained to the accused person and pleaded guilty.
The records in court states that the accused was a private tutor of Hassanatu’s child and stole the phone when he went to her house on May 28th. The accused person confessed in court that he sold the phone to a commercial bike rider for five hundred thousand Leones.
He was sentenced to six months imprisonment or pay a fine of eight hundred thousand Leones and he was also ordered to pay nine hundred thousand Leones as to the complainant as restitution of the value of the phone stolen.
Sergeant 9958 Santigie Koroma prosecuted the matter.
