Sierra Leone’s Senior National men’s team Leone Stars will today go head to head with Guinea Bissau in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the General Lansana Conte Stadium in Conakry Guinea.

After a disappointing Africa Cup Nations opener against the Super Eagles of Nigeria, the Leone Stars team has held two-day intensive training to brace up for their Crunch tie against the group A leader’s Guinea Bissau today, Leone Stars need a win to keep hope alive in the ongoing qualifiers.

According to Amidu Karim, the Assistant coach of Leone said ” our match against Guinea Bissau is a must-win encounter, the bottom line is to win against Guinea Bissau today, it’s a must win the match for us. If we don’t win, it would be a distraction to the team.”

He added, “We tried our best in our first match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Thursday but the result did not go our way that is football; we have learned a lot from that match as we prepare for match day two today in Guinea.”

He further that ” we are going to rectify certain departments for the Guinea Bissau match if we want to qualify we need to should be winning matches against Guinea Bissau and Sao Tome Precipe.”

Leone Stars Captain Stevens Caulker after the defeat against Nigeria the team has remained optimistic as they prepared to face Guinea Bissau in today’s match and they need to win to keep their hope alive going to the qualifiers.

” We know it not going to be an easy match playing against Guinea Bissau they have to show themselves in their opener when they trash Sao Tome’s precipe by (5-1) that show they are a strong side, but am confident we they players we have we will get the results.”

Sierra Leone needs a win to get things going in Group if they failed Guinea Bissau and Nigeria will be strong contenders after two matches and a draw will be a danger to Leone Stars and defeats will be the worst because they will be trailing Nigeria and Guinea Bissau by five and six-point respectively.

Guinea Bissau arrived in Guinea on the 11th of June 2022 via Casablanca at (1:25) to brace up for the crunch tie against Sierra Leone, after a good opener against Sao Tome Precipe they want to get things going and prepared to face the Leone Stars.
