The Acting Deputy Operations officer for the criminal investigation Department Detective Inspector Joshua Musa has yesterday in a press conference, refuted the heinous social media bribe allegations made by one Mariama Jalloh, against the Inspector General of Police Ambros Sovula and the Chairman for Internal Affairs Committee in Parliament Hon. Alusine Kanneh.
Detective Joshua Musa furthered that such allegation against the Inspector General of Police and the Deputy Chief Whip of Parliament is baseless and unfounded. He maintained that such false allegation against police officers has not been a novelty. Joshua Musa also intimated that the Inspector General of Police is not even the investigator in the alleged passport sage involving a Lebanese Man Faud Ayub. “So spreading the rumor that the IGP and the Honorable Member of Parliament received $50,000 to free the Lebanese man is baseless and unfounded information”.
Detective Inspector Joshua Musa continued that the Police is not better placed to talk about penalty against the Lebanese Man Faud Ayub because the Lebanese man is still under investigation. He added that until there is sufficient evidence against the Lebanese man, then the police will now charge Faud Ayub to court and the court in return, will now provide the appropriate penalty (ties) against Faud Ayub. Inspector Joshua Musa also acknowledged that it is the sole responsibility of a Magistrate after all evidence have been provided to the court and considers same to be sufficient, then the magistrate will now use his discretion to impose punishment for the accused person.
He also disclosed that the police have not got any fact or evidence with regards the wide ranging allegations that Faud Ayub is the one who proved passport book to Baimba Moiforay alias LAC to travel out of the country. “So I cannot say Faud issued passport to LAC because there is no evidence to prove such and we are not investigating such for now”, he said.
